Subject: Testing For SeaMonkey 2.0.2 - Help wanted!
Hi everyone,
You probably will notice a Firefox 3.5.7 update being published within the next hours, containing a very small amount of fixes on top of 3.5.6 and you might wonder if a SeaMonkey update is due as well.
Indeed, we are preparing an update with the same few Gecko fixes, we just waited to have a patch available that avoids the freeze many people have seen with composing messages in connection with having the "OE Contacts" addressbook available.
SeaMonkey 2.0.2 only contains this fix in comparison to 2.0.1, as well as the few Gecko fixes shipped in Firefox 3.5.7 - the previously planned 2.0.2 release is being renamed to 2.0.3 instead and any further changes, including L10n updates, will ship with that one in early February.
All the builds and updates for SeaMonkey 2.0.2 have been created now (updates are available on the betatest channel right now, will go to beta as soon as I have a few reports of the builds not being busted), so it's time for starting tests on them to ensure we get an update out there that is worth shipping to all our 2.0.x users.
Please help us testing the Windows installers, Mac disk images and Linux packages, all available in 21 languages including US English. The packages are available in the linux, mac, and win32 subdirectories of SeaMonkey 2.0.2 - Candidates/build1
Please use the builds for any usage patterns you can think of, possibly also doing a Litmus smoketest run on them. I know that Litmus run isn't perfect, but it's the best we have right now.
Localizers, please test the builds in your locale, any updates can be taken with further opt-ins for 2.0.3 and future updates.
If no problems come up in testing those builds, they will go live as the official 2.0.2 as soon as possible, within a week from now in any case.
The list of bugs fixed in this update contains only 4 reports, see this query:
Bugzilla – Bug List
Only the mail compose freeze fix is specific to SeaMonkey, we would be very happy to have someone test the builds who has been seeing the freeze with 2.0.1 builds and confirm that 2.0.2 doesn't freeze.
